Too tired to write anything worth reading. For context I will merely mention this project is located within the vicinity of Peter Zumthor’s Therme Vals. Designed by Dutch based architect Bjarne Mastenbroek, the project is intended to be a self-sufficient rental property.
Post with 1 note
Nothing triggers wanderlust like a sunny day. My reveries these days include visions of Cyprus, Ottoman Turks, anything remotely Byzantine, citrus groves, and of course the coast, always the coast.

A Cyprian sunset. this should keep me going for the rest of the day.
2 a.m. and all I can think of is immersing myself in a little Godard, why this occurs to me at 2 a.m. in the freaking morning when I have to wake up in 4 hours is beyond me but there it is; Contempt-must watch soon.
It speaks to my recent turn towards cynicism and it’s an excuse to see amazing architecture on film and simply ESCAPE…
Contempt or (Le Mépris) is sizzling hot on many levels-there’s Bardot and the Isle of Capri, and of course Villa Malaparte, an incredibly sexy retreat, complete with a fireplace looking out towards the ocean, a red exclamation mark in fluid fields of blues. Defiant and delightfully uncompromising…traits equally alluring in men.
Looks like I’m getting my snow storm after all, quite possibly I’m of the few who would venture out on a day like this…
Something happened. I’ll omit the details because all that matters is I’ve fucked up and my past fuck ups have come to bite me in the ass and I’ve probably lost someone very dear to me because of it, someone who is everything I’d like to be; soothing, and light as the sun, and absolutely lovely. Damage appears to be irrevocable and I haven’t slept or eaten well since.
So what sort of place, or places in my case, call to me in my present state of mind? Answer is two distinctly divergent sorts of places:
1. Beauvais Cathedral, France. Lofty and grand interior flooded with light. The sort of place which unravels upwards and upwards towards some finite, unknown point. Solid verticality.
2. Saharan Desert, Africa. Brilliant blue sky, arid and vast expanse. Sand dunes all around and intense sun relentlessly beating down on the dry surface. Harsh but beautiful. The kind of place to get lost in. Endless horizontality.
Come to think of it, they share one trait. Infinite space, or at least the illusion of infinite space. Precisely what I need right now-that and a hug.
